Upland - A Charming City

Upland, a city in San Bernardino County, was incorporated on May 15, 1906, after previously being named North Ontario. It was originally an irrigation colony established by George and William Chaffey. When founded, it was a small rural town based on agriculture, specifically citrus fruits and grapes.

Present-day Upland maintains many of the same features, most specifically Euclid Avenue, the north-south, tree-lined street that runs through town, as well as many of the older, adobe and ranch-style houses. Each year in Historic Downtown Upland many come to enjoy our Annual Christmas Parade and Arts and Crafts Fair. On U.S. Route 66, at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard. and Euclid Avenue, is the statue of Madonna of the Trail, which was dedicated on February 1, 1929 to the Pioneer Mothers of the Covered Wagon Days.

Other highlights of Upland include Old Baldy Brewery (turn into link ww.oldbaldybrewery.com) in downtown Upland, a brewery in the tradition of old craft-brewed ales, and a clear view of Mount Baldy. Upland has two sister cities: Mildura, Victoria, Australia and Caborca,Sonora, Mexico. Upland's 100th birthday was on May 15, 2006.
