Berryville - Where History Meets Progress
Founded in 1850 by Blackburn Henderson Berry of Alabama, Berryville still preserves the best of small-town life. During the Civil War, the town, except for a few houses, was burned by both sides. At one time Union soldiers camped on what is now the City Square Park.
Located at the center of an area bounded by Beaver Lake on the west and Table Rock Lake on the north. It's a great place to vacation so you can catch your breath while you relax from the hectic pace of the city. Others come here looking for a home, a place to raise a family, or maybe to retire. Whether you come as a visitor or a new neighbor, you'll find a more comfortable pace of life.
Berryville is a book lover's paradise. We are fast becoming known as "Book City" because many of our antique shops and flea markets specialize in rare and collectible books. One store, Sow's Ear Antiques, has a comprehensive book section of more than 5,000 titles of rare, collectible and notable books including books from the University of Arkansas Press and Toby Books, representing Donald Harington, the "Shakespeare" of the Ozarks. The city also is home to many Arkansas writers whose books are available in the local shops.
While here, stop in at Stubbs Grocery Store for a Luther Burger, visit the "world famous" Saunder's Museum, which has guns used by outlaws like Pancho Villa, Billy the Kid, and many others in a rare and fascinating collection.
For a beautiful, one of a kind sight, be sure to visit nearby Cosmic Cavern with its formations of stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, and cave popcorn.
We look forward to meeting you!
