In the morning, early in the morning, you can hear the swoosh of the burners on the balloons as they approach the field. They are having a competition to see who can hit the target with a bean bag. After they drop the bean bag, they often continue to fly on.

This balloon is passing overhead as I am taking pictures.

This pilot decided to land. Landing is a balloon is pretty straightforward. As you get to the ground, you pull the crown out of the top of the balloon releasing the hot air. The Balloon then collapses and falls over. You have a person pulling on a line attached to the top of the balloon so it does not fall on the basket.

After the balloon is folded up, it is then just rolled into a ball and stored in a big bag.

Later in the morning the actiities moved to downtown. So did we. One of the events that lasted all day was the wine tasting booth. I don't drink so I just took a picture from outside. It did look like fun.

In the park was the art show and a small farmer's market. So we loaded up on fresh tomatoes. There is nothing like home-grown fresh produce.

The art show filled the park and there were some really good artists showing their work. Paintings, sculpture, jewelry. A little of everything for just about anyone's taste and pocketbook.

Another part of the festival was the car show. I just would not feel right if I didn't add this hog photo to the group. These were all parked next to the art festival.

Here is one row of cars entered in the car show. There were actually two full blocks filled on both sides with beautiful cars.

The cars were parked on two of the streets next to the courthouse. Lincoln is known as the first town named after Abraham Lincoln before he became president. As the story is told, Lincoln had drawn up the legal papers for the town when asked if he could suggest a name. Ask a joke, he suggested Lincoln and they took him up on it. He then christened the town with watermelon juice. At least that's the story.
